Breaking News: Four Killed, 60 Injured During Nikhita Gandhi Concert on Kochi’s Cusat Campus

KOCHI- (By Hubli Express News) In a tragic turn of events at Kochi’s Cusat campus, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded during a music concert featuring the talented singer Nikhita Gandhi. Organized by the School of Engineering, the event took a devastating turn, leading to the loss of four young lives.

According to eyewitness accounts, chaos ensued as the event gate opened, resulting in a stampede that caused students to fall over each other. The poignant moment was captured in a photo depicting the gate and the steps where the unfortunate stampede occurred.

The incident occurred at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) during a performance by Nikhita Gandhi. The Vice Chancellor of the university provided insights into the tragic occurrence, stating that the stampede transpired when rain began to fall. He explained, “The fest was started yesterday, with various programs lined up. Today’s musical event drew students not only from our university but also from neighboring colleges. Regrettably, the turnout was overwhelming, with more than 2,000 people present, leading to a rush at the stairs,” reported Hindustan Times quoting the vice chancellor.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of event attendees, urging a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the stampede. Injured have been shifted to Kalamassery Medical College, as per Health Minister Veena George.
